Legals Only

Legals Only ceremonies are not offered on Saturdays or Sundays.

Some couples have been together for years and simply want to make it official. Some are remarrying and don’t want another big wedding. Others need to marry before a trip, before a baby arrives or before a visa deadline. You may be planning a destination wedding or celebration overseas and want the Australian legal marriage completed first – or perhaps you just want to spend your money on something else, like a honeymoon or a new home.

Whatever brings you here, Legals Only gives you a quiet, simple and completely official way to get married.

What “Legals Only” Actually Means

A Legals Only ceremony is the most streamlined way to be married under Australian law. It includes:

  • The minimum legal wording required by Australian law
  • Your legal vows
  • Signing of the marriage certificates
  • Lodgement of all documentation with Births, Deaths & Marriages WA

It is a brief 5–10 minute legal ceremony, usually attended by the two of you and two witnesses. Ring exchange is optional. Children or parents may attend in most cases.

A Simple Marriage in a Beautiful Setting

Legals Only may take just a few minutes, but it still takes place somewhere lovely.

The Marriage Office has been created to make even the simplest marriage feel special, with soft florals, our wedding wine barrel and a beautiful space for signing your marriage documents and taking photographs afterwards.

You can wear a wedding dress if you like, bring a bouquet, exchange rings and raise a glass together – or arrive exactly as you are and keep everything wonderfully simple.

You came here to marry each other. That deserves to feel special.

Your Legals Only Marriage Includes:

  • An initial consultation in person or online
  • Help completing your Notice of Intended Marriage
  • A pre-marriage paperwork appointment
  • Shelly as your authorised marriage celebrant
  • The legal wording required under Australian law
  • Your legal marriage vows
  • Signing of your marriage certificates
  • Preparation and lodgement of your documents with Births, Deaths and Marriages WA
  • Guidance throughout the process

Please note: Legals Only is available Monday to Friday only and does not include a rehearsal, aisle entrance, personalised ceremony, venue styling or use of the Serenity Room.

You will need to bring two witnesses who are at least 18 years old. If arranging witnesses is difficult, please let me know when you enquire.

Make It Official, Your Way

If all you want is to stand beside the person you love, say the words that make it legal and leave together as a married couple, I’ll make sure that moment feels warm, relaxed and special.

Dress up, bring flowers and exchange rings—or come exactly as you are. There is no right way to look or feel when you get married. What matters is that the moment belongs to the two of you.

Come in together. Make it official. Leave married.

Celebrate By The Marina

Your Legals Only appointment may be brief, but that doesn’t mean the occasion has to be.

Step outside and you’re already at Mandurah Marina. Take a few photographs by the water, celebrate over lunch or dinner, or raise a glass at one of the restaurants and bars around Dolphin Quay.

If you’re coming down from Perth, you could book a night at Seashells or The Sebel and turn getting married into a little getaway. Or keep the whole thing private, enjoy a quiet walk along the Marina and head home together.

Legals Only gives you the freedom to make as much— as little—of the day as you want.

The legal part may take only a few minutes. Being married is the part that lasts.
